1) Go to https://hostname.slack.com/services/new/bot and register a new bot - give it a name similar to the name of your AnswerHub site
2) Install the Slack plugin
3) Go to /admin/integrations/slack.html in AnswerHub and enter your API token and enter the default channel for messages along with any topic mappings
3.1) Before you can send any messages to a channel besides #general, a user needs to invite the bot into that channel
4) New questions that have not been sent to moderation that match topics in the admin config (or default channel if no matches) will be sent to a slack Channel.
Currently the mapping is only to the default & help spaces. Mapping Spaces to channels is slated for a future version of AnswerHub, to be decided.
Hi thanks for the information!
I've tried following the steps and it didn't work for me. I managed to create a new bot, enter the API token, invite it to the channel but still when questions are posted on our community page it doesn't show in the Slack Channel.
I was thinking it might be because of the way we set-up the 'Topic To Channel List' as I'm not sure what it refers too. Right now it set to 'default = usersupport'.
Cheers,
Thomas
Hi there - sorry, I don't think I got your notification. This isnt a normal support channel Can you please file a ticket in our support portal or through your customer care representative? That said, in that topic mapping 'usersupport' needs to be slack channel. I'm presuming that's the case? In the support channel, please tell us the customer site and we'll check the logs to see if there's anything wrong there.
